The new EU–US tariff agreement is set to come into effect on August 1, 2025.
This deal imposes a 15% tariff on most EU exports to the US, replacing the previously threatened 30% levy. This agreement provides some clarity, but there are several details, such as specific product exemptions and logistics on implementation still to be finalised.
In terms of supporting clients, our team is focused on:
Helping clients navigate new customs and pricing strategies.
Promoting market diversification (e.g., Eurozone, Canada, Asia).
Assisting with tariff classification and origin planning to reduce costs.
The key supports in this context that are available to exporting clients include financial expertise to work with clients on new pricing strategies, Market Explorer Grant and export advice and guidance to look at market diversification.
Additionally, we can connect businesses with customs advisors to explore duty relief schemes, tariff classification reviews, and origin planning.
As further details emerge on the agreement, we will work with colleagues in Enterprise Ireland to undertake detailed analysis of the tariffs and their impact on different sectors.
