The aim of the course is to give Childminders confidence in working with their financial records, and the knowledge needed to keep proper books of account and to deal with Revenue obligations. It will also give participants an understanding of how their Income and Profit is calculated and its impact on their income taxes.
 
This session aimed at childminders & participants working in the Childcare Sector, will be delivered online by Sarah McGuinness of SM Accounting Solutions

Programme Objective
- 1. To explain the Revenue obligations of a sole trader childminder
 - 2. To explain and discuss the Childminders Tax Relief
 - 3. To explain and demonstrate the financial records and ‘Books’ that must be kept
 - by childminders and in what format (Excel spreadsheets will be used)
 - 4. To teach and explain the expenses that can be claimed by childminders
 - 5. To explain the differences between assets and expenses and their impact on
 - the accounts and tax bill
 - 6. To explain the Profit and Loss account and what childminders will be taxed on

- Revenue Obligations and Registering as a Sole Trader
 - Allowable business expenses
 - Assets, Liabilities, Income, Cost of Sales and Expenses
 - Working from home allowances
 - Assets Vs Expenses – tax implication
 - Keeping and recording financial records – ‘Doing the Books’
 - The Profit and Loss Account and Income for Tax purposes
 - Tips to save tax
