Local Enterprise Office Mayo can assist enterprises from individuals/sole traders and companies, with grant aid, subject to the following eligibility criteria:

  • The enterprise must be in manufacturing or Internationally Traded Services Sectors;
  • The enterprise must be in the commercial sphere;
  • The enterprise must demonstrate a market for the product/service;
  • The enterprise must have a capacity for growth and new job creation;
  • The enterprise must not employ more than 10 people
  • The business must be located in Mayo
  • For Feasibility, Priming or Expansion grants, the business must be investing the grant in a new product/service, that does not already exist in the region. i.e. that does not have an existing competitor

Depending on availability of financial resources, it may not always be possible to accept applications for Feasibility, Business Priming or Business Expansion funding. Any such constraints - if they arise - do not necessarily affect other financial supports listed on our website. To check availability throughout the year, please talk to our Business Adviser team.

In general Local Enterprise Office Mayo cannot offer grant aid to:

  • retail businesses;
  • personal & professional services businesses;
  • construction sector;
  • primary agriculture businesses;
  • other local services that duplicate existing local businesses.

Other supports may be available to businesses in these sectors, contact Local Enterprise Office Mayo to discuss this further.

 

It is important to note that although the LEO cannot offer grant aid to businesses in these sectors, we can, however, subject to available budget, provide assistance with mentoring, training and advisory supports. Contact us and we’ll do what we can to help!

All grant payments issued by Local Enterprise Office Mayo is subject to De Minimis: Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/2831

De Minimis regulations mean that an enterprise which cannot receive in excess of €300,000 in State Aid (from 1st January, 2007) over any three fiscal years, irrespective of size and location.  De Minimis Aid can come from any State body, agency or department and can be in the form of equity, grant, subsidies, guarantees, state guarantees, and loans. In making an application for support from LEO Mayo the applicant should sign a declaration providing details of all other De Minimis aid which has been granted to the company within the past three years.
