Flavia Pordominsky, bringing a touch of Hollywood to Waterford.

 Flavia

“Their guidance has been instrumental, and I look forward to growing this relationship for many years to come.”

From Barry Lyndon in the early 70s right up to 2023’s The Hurler, Waterford has had a rich heritage in the film industry. We’ve been blessed with great actors like Anna Manahan and Moe Dunford, not to mention those behind the camera, writing or directing. The latest of which is Assistant Director Flavia Pordominsky.

Hailing from Italy & Argentina, Flavia has been making waves in the Irish Film Industry since 2017. She is known for films such as Oddity (2024), Silver and the Book of Dreams (2023) and The House Across the Street (2022). But more recently she founded IRIT PRODUCTIONS here in Waterford. As Flavia herself says, she “is on a mission to tell powerful, diverse, and globally relevant stories right from the heart of Waterford.”

With a rich background in film and television, Flavia has contributed her expertise to projects for RTE, BBC, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Virgin Media, and other major European broadcasters since 2017. She is now turning her passion for storytelling into a platform aiming to reshape the narrative in a multicultural and diverse society in Ireland, making content for international markets using local Waterford talent, crew and locations.

Last year, Flavia became director of the Waterford Film Centre. She is actively fostering the region’s screen industry, offering training, hosting industry events, and endeavouring to help emerging and established filmmakers bring their visions to life. She is determined to turn Waterford into a thriving hub for film and television production, creating jobs and opportunities within the community.

Flavia credits the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) in playing a pivotal role in transforming her vision into reality. Through their invaluable mentorship, financial support, and business guidance, IRIT PRODUCTIONS has been able to lay the groundwork for its ambitious projects. “I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support, respect, and belief the Local Enterprise Office has shown in my project. Their guidance has been instrumental, and I look forward to growing this relationship for many years to come.”

Only last year she was involved in the Belgium/Ireland co-production TV Series "This Is Not a Murder Mystery"  filmed in Curraghmore House in Portlaw, Waterford. It is a an example of Flavia’s commitment to the region, ensuring local crews were used in every department of the production and that the 250 extras used in the series were hired in the South-east.

With exciting projects in development, IRIT PRODUCTIONS is focused to make a significant impact not only in Waterford but on the global stage.
